Since 2020, Good Briquette Initiative Limited (GBIL) has significantly advanced Uganda’s clean-energy transition by leading innovation in the mass production of sugarcane bagasse briquettes, supplying over 431,708 tons to the Kampala and urban markets—and an estimated 1.3 million tons nationwide Through these efforts, GBIL has reduced reliance on charcoal and firewood, directly combating deforestation while lowering greenhouse gas emissions associated with traditional biomass fuels.
